Creatine Side Effects

When used properly, creatine has no documented side effects. This study shows that the only side effect of creatine is a gain in size. Any mention of side effects is anecdotal and unproven by science. All of the studies shown below give no mention of side effects, but give evidence to creatine's safety.

Is Creatine safe?

Yes, creatine is completely safe with recommended dosages. Long-term creatine use does not significantly affect clinical markers of health in athletes. Studies have not found clinically significant deviations from normal values in renal, hepatic, cardiac or muscle function.

However, additional water should be taken as some of the weight gained will be through water retention in the muscle. Thus, it's highly recommended to drink additional water and stay hydrated when using creatine.
