Soy Protein Benefits
Does Soy Protein Work?
Soy protein supplementation has been proven to work in building lean muscle mass. This study of whey protein vs. soy protein showed that soy protein performs as well as whey protein in building muscle (but those who took no protein did not perform as well). Additionally, the soy protein had additional antioxidant benefits.
Since soy protein is a type of protein, the general protein muscular growth studies (HTML link), where lean muscle mass is added at much higher rates when taking 2.8g of protein per kg of body weight (1.27g protein per pound of bodyweight everyday) than 1.4g of protein per kg of body weight (0.635g protein per pound of bodyweight), apply to soy protein as well.
However, soy protein has been shown to decrease testosterone levels in males. For this reason, we do not recommend long-term usage of soy protein for male athletes or bodybuilders.PricePlow and ClutchWave LLC take no responsibility for the statements and links on this page.
