Scivation Xtend Review
My latest order of supplements included Scivation Xtend (buy 90 servings from the cheapest store now, buy 30 servings from the cheapest store now). I have been using the Green Apple flavor. Update: I have also tried grape and watermelon too.
How does Scivation Xtend taste?
Scivation Xtend is absolutely delicious. I'm not a big green apple flavor fan and I still love it. It's not too sour and not too sweet, but definitely on the tart end of the spectrum.
The grape flavor was the best (EXACTLY like grape kool-aid!), but also mixed the worst - it was a bit foamier. Watermelon is fantastic if you like that fake-watermelon flavor, which I do. Expect nothing less than a watermelon Jolly Rancher.
How do you take Scivation Xtend?
I take 1 serving of Xtend (2 scoops) with 15oz of water, per the instructions, and shake it in a shaker. As you can see from the pictures, Xtend is very well-micronized and dissolves excellently in water. Sometimes there is a bit of powder at the bottom of the glass, but a quick swirl before you sip will take care of that.
I drink Xtend first thing in the morning before doing anything else -- this is when I am most catabolic. Getting amino acids into my system will eliminate any muscle breakdown that may have begun happening overnight (I also take a whey/egg/casein mix protein shake before bed to prevent this). Additionally, I take a serving of Xtend immediately post-workout when using unflavored Waxy Maize, such as Optimum Nutrition Glycomaize. Glycomaize has quite a starchy, bland flavor to it, and Xtend makes it very tasty. They also mix incredibly well together.
How is Scivation Xtend's Value?
What I like most about Scivation Xtend is the price. Many people think that it's expensive since it costs almost 50 dollars for 90 servings of Xtend. However, when looking at the cost per gram of L-Leucine, you're getting almost as good of a deal as the most cost-effective Branched-Chain Amino Acid product currently on the site -- and not only that, but Xtend also has L-Glutamine and Citrulline Malate!
Digging deeper, Glutamine currently has a cost of about 33g per dollar, and citrulline malate is about 11g per dollar. There is a total of 90*2.5g = 225g of glutamine in a 90 serving container of Xtend (6.8 dollars worth). Next, there is 90g of citrulline malate per 90 serving container, another 8.18 dollars worth!
This means that if you enjoy the benefits of glutamine or citrulline malate, Xtend is by far the best BCAA deal, and even moreso once you factor in the taste.
What is Scivation Xtend's Rating?
Value: 5/5
Benefits: 4.5/5
Green Apple Flavor Rating: 5/5
Watermelon Flavor Rating: 5/5
Grape Flavor Rating: 5/5
Overall: 5/5

Image 2: A little bit of the powder settles to the bottom. Not a big deal.

Image 3: Despite the small settling, a great mix. Note the crappy rain outside... no surfing for 3 days.
