As mentioned in the Carbohydrates/Sports Drinks/Energy Gels Dosage page, during extreme competitions, 40-75g of carbs per hour has been shown to meet your body's demand. If you are exercising for weight-loss, you should use much less.

Immediately after workout, we recommend taking your lean body mass divided by five in grams of carbs (ie a 200lb person can take 40g of waxy maize) along with BCAAs, creatine (if you are attempting to build muscle), and an optional 3-4g of beta alanine to prevent fatigue. 20 minutes later, follow-up with a whey protein shake.

This study states that it may be more advantageous to ingest a mixture of carbohydrates with protein following exercise in order to promote a more sustained increase in blood glucose response, so it might be best to use a product that mixes maltodextrin with others.
