Ephedrine Side Effects

Ephedrine has very severe side effects, especially when used improperly, and can include death. Common side effects are anxiety, confusion, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, headache, nausea, nervousness, pale skin, restlessness, sweating, tension, tremors, weakness.

Severe allergic reactions such as rashes, hives, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue may occur. Additionally, chest pains, difficulty urinating, eye pain, hallucinations, increased irregular heartbeat, nausea, pounding in the chest, and vomiting have occurred and are severe side effects that warrant medical attention immediately.

From our studies, side effects (tremor, insomnia and dizziness) were transient and after eight weeks of treatment they had reached placebo levels. 20mg ephedrine and 200mg caffeine was used, which is a common dosage.

In another study, 20mg ephedrine and 200mg caffeine was used, and 54% of people complained of side effects. However, the side-effects declined markedly during the first month of treatment in both groups.

Is Ephedrine safe?

We do not consider ephedrine to be safe, and only recommend it to elite athletes such as professional bodybuilders, using it in low dosages.
