Side Effects of Energy Drinks

Energy drinks will inherit all of the side effects of the ingredients in them. You should research each ingredient in your energy drinks, and try to stay away from too much sugar or any high-fructose corn syrup.

Are Energy Drinks safe?

Energy drinks are generally safe if used only sparingly (one or less per day with no other caffeine supplementation). We only believe that the sugar-free or zero-carb versions are truly safe for you. See the Caffeine Side Effects page for more information on caffeine's safety.

If you have ulcers, are pregnant, have mental disorders, or heart disease, you should not be taking energy drinks ever.

Alcohol and Energy Drinks:

Mixing alcohol with energy drinks is potentially dangerous and you should not have more than two mixed energy drinks (~400mg caffeine) throughout the course of a night.
